Anyone planning to work close to tram tracks in Edinburgh is being reminded that they must obtain advance permission to carry out any activity. This ensures not only their own safety but also the wellbeing of passengers and Edinburgh Trams employees.
Iain McLeod, Authority to Work Manager at Edinburgh Trams, said: “With moving trams and live overhead lines, the tramway presents significant risks for anyone working nearby, so we can’t stress enough the importance of applying for a necessary permit in good time for their request to be processed. This is particularly important during busy periods, such as over the autumn months, but the rules apply year-round and no work is ever allowed without the correct permissions in place.”
There is an online system to apply for an Authority to Work permit which makes it a simple and straightforward process. More details available at https://edinburghtrams.com/atw
