In Pictures: Track renewal continues on Supertram

The track renewal works on the South Yorkshire Supertram network which are taking place along Middlewood Road until early September have been continuing over the past few days as the area seeing new rails laid increases.

Since we last featured the works, the site has moved a further 150 yards or so towards the city at Leppings Lane. Once again the old rails are being removed before they are replaced by new track as part of the major investment by the SYMCA in improving the network.

Looking down onto the new worksite with the fencing protecting the public from the work. New rails wait to be installed.

Another shot of the continued work.

Hillsborough Trinity Methodist Church is just behind the worksite here as VolkerRail continue their contract to replace the rails on Supertram.

Trams from Meadowhall on the Yellow route are continuing to run to Malin Bridge whilst the work takes place. 109 was working on the route here and is seen at Meadowhall. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke, 20th August 2024)
