A move into Germany for this latest “Around the World in Trams”.
The Rhein-Neckar tram system in Heidelberg, in the federal state of Baden-Wurttemberg, has been running electric trams since 190 (horse trams came from 1885). In this photo we see 256 which was built by Duewag in 1986 and carried on running in this style until 2013 when it was modernised and renumbered as 3256. It remains operational today. Here its leaving the city centre with a route 3 service to Handschuhsheim Nord on 23rd September 2001.
