In Pictures: More straight rail goes in at Victoria

On Sunday 25th February engineering work took place around Victoria which saw Metrolink services altered. This was relatively short-notice work and many of us expected that it would be in connection with the broken rail at the Corporation Street end of the station which is preventing trams from accessing 2CC. However, it appears that may not have been directly the case.

A recent visit to Victoria saw that it seems that more inspections of the track has taken place and more straight rail has been installed where once there was a point. This is at the north end of the stop (heading away from the city centre) and is from the centre track to access the Bury/Rochdale bound track.

Looking from the end of the platform we can see where the track has been replaced by straight rail. This now means that trams can’t go from the centre track onto the Bury bound track. (Photograph by Steve Hyde, March 2024)
