The Completely Random A-Z of Trams in the British Isles! J is for Just Eat adverts

We did say that some letters were easier to come up with a theme then others and the letter J is the first of those where we struggled a little bit!

All over adverts have long been a staple of tramways, bringing in some much needed extra revenue to operators. Loved and loathed in equal measure, more recent years have seen the introduction of vinyls across the windows which has added even more controversy to their application. On the UK’s modern tramways there haven’t been too many companies who have taken adverts out on more than one system but one was Just Eat who advertised on both Manchester Metrolink and Nottingham Express Transit. In Manchester they had ads on 3039 (May-September 2018) and 3085 (May-September 2018) whilst on NET it was 210 which carried vinyls for Just Eat (2017-2019).

We illustrated these adverts with a photo of Metrolink’s 3085. As with the majority of ads in Manchester the fleet livery remained on the ends but the remainder had the colourful vinyls in place. This is at Velopark. 3085 had terminated at Ethihad Campus and then moved forward here to use the crossover and reverse. (Photograph by Gareth Prior, 11th May 2018)
