In Pictures: EATM Ride the Lights again!

Once again in 2025, the East Anglia Transport Museum have been ending the year in style with the always popular “Ride the Lights” event taking place on weekends in December. This event sees trams, trolleybuses and the railway running after dark, and with it being almost Christmas there are also lots of festive lights in place to add to the spectacle and the atmosphere of an after dark ride! Bryan Grint has paid a visit to the museum and provide us with this selection of photos.

Ride the Lights has been taking place on weekends in December, the first weekend was 6th and 7th followed by 13th and 14th. The final weekend of this extra special event will be 20th and 21st December with the museum open between 1500 and 1900 – your last chance for a tram ride in 2025 at Carlton Colville. The museum will also be open on New Year’s Day, 1st January 2026, between 1100 and 1630.

Dusk at Chapel Road terminus on 6th December 2025 and two Blackpool streamliners, with appropriate “TOUR OF ILLUMINATIONS” blinds, wait alongside London Transport trolleybus 260 with two more trolleybuses also on standby to meet their adoring public. The two trams are of course Brush Railcoach 634 and Marton VAMBAC 11.

634 sets off from Chapel Road with a trip along the tramway. Christmas lights along the side of the track and the tram carries a wreath on its coupler box.

634 on its way back as it passes various Christmas decorations.

A magical scene as 11 sets off away from Chapel Road through the spectacular Christmas lights.

Trolleybuses as well get to meet various special characters on display during the event. This is Derby 237 and an inflatable Christmas tree with arms!

Even the entrance hut is all decorated along with the arch to get into the museum! (Photographs x6 by Bryan Grint, 6th December 2025)

Weekend two and the same two Blackpool trams are seen at Chapel Road. 634 at the stop and 11 just arriving back.

11 is also appropriately decorated inside and there is a strange green glow under the tram too! (Photographs x2 by Bryan Grint, 14th December 2025)
