NET Engineering Works this October

In most years there is one major closure on Nottingham Express Transit during the summer months to allow for rail replacement works to take place but in 2023 there will be additional work taking place this October. Two areas will be worked on with work starting in the city centre on Sunday 22nd October for three days and then from Saturday 28th October there will be attention to the track at Cator Lane for a week.

Labelled as being “improvements to infrastructure designed to enhance safety and improve reliability” the work will see rails replaced on Middle Hill on the approach to the Nottingham Station viaduct and then at Cator Lane. The work at Cator Lane will be repairing damage caused by the severe flooding caused by a burst water main earlier this year.

Trevor Stocker, NET Head of Operations, said: “Throughout these periods, tram tickets will be accepted on buses serving affected areas, as trams will be unable to run on some sections of the network. Understandably, there will also be some noise associated with the repairs, but our contractors will have measures in place to minimise any disturbance.

“These vital long-term repairs include the replacement of ballast that was disturbed by the flooding and will ensure the safe operation of the line for many years to come. In advance, we would like to thank customers and anyone else affected by these works for their patience and understanding and to reassure them that we are doing all we can to minimise any inconvenience.”
