In Pictures: Snow in Manchester

As we’ve seen the past few days saw snow hit various areas in the UK leading to travel disruption with various media reports of cars stuck on the roads overnight. Despite the heavy snow on the whole tramways in the UK didn’t suffer too much disruption (Sheffield being the exception with the city offering suffering the worst due to its location) which allowed contributors to this website to get out and about and capture some snowy images. In this first of two articles this evening we head onto Manchester Metrolink.

After the snow came the sun and under beautiful blue skies this shot shows 3031 which has just departed Shaw & Crompton on the way to Rochdale. Snow remains on the ground but its not enough to affect the Metrolink service.

Also at Shaw & Crompton, this view features 3125 leading a double unit into the stop with a terminating service from East Didsbury. The destination screen has already been changed for its return journey. (Both Photographs by Keith Chadbourne, 10th March 2023)
