Our second snowy pictorial of the evening comes from the West Midlands Metro. It was a similar situation on the system as it was on Manchester Metrolink where despite the amount of snow which had fallen there wasn’t any real disruption to the service. But with the snow on the ground it still made for some good photography as we see in the below images courtesy of Andy Walters.
34 leaves Bradley Lane behind as it heads towards Birmingham in this image. The tram was being used on driver training with a significant amount taking place recently to add to the pool of available drivers.
Its 34 again on driver training in this shot.
There seems to be a photoshoot of sorts going on with the group of young girls on the left but we’re more interested in 37 which is calling at Dartmouth Street on the right with a service to Edgbaston Village. (Photographs x3 by Andy Walters, 9th March 2023)
A day later and we see 36 dashing through the snow.
We think this is 40 but as we’ve said before the shape of the Urbos trams is such that where the number is carried the snow always seems to congregate!
39 pulls away the stop on its way to Wolverhampton St George’s. (Photographs x3 by Andy Walters, 10th March 2023)
The tram that you suspect to be 40 doesn’t appear to be named so is this shot pre-naming or is it not 40 at all?
Its would be post naming but for a few days after its naming only one of the blue patches covering the name had been removed.
Seen 40 earlier today and some how the names have been covered up
The Tram thought to be 40 was taken on the 10th , 2 days after the naming it was still running about for a week with just the one end showing the name, and has of yesterday 15th
still with one compleate side still coved !
Looked at the original photo ,it is 48
