Trams &: Oporto 196 & bus

We have another edition of “Trams &” for you today and we’re off to Beamish once more as we see one of the resident trams in action along with a bus.

This photo was taken at the Entrance on 27th August and it’s a blue affair with a blue tram and a blue bus featuring. On the right we see Oporto 196 in the blue and primrose yellow livery of South Shields Corporation Tramways. This tram had been out of service earlier in August but after repairs to its lifeguard it was able to return to action in time for this image to be captured.

Alongside the tram is one of the replica buses which has been at Beamish for a number of years. This is London replica B-type B1349 which first arrived at the museum in 2004. It is in the 1920s Newcastle Corporation livery and is often in use transporting passengers down into the Pit Village (a location which understandably isn’t served by the trams).
