Today in “They Ran in 2021” we make our first visit of this series to Blackpool with the iconic Western Train featuring.
Having completely missed the 2020 season because of delays in its overhaul caused by the pandemic, the Illuminated Western Train made a return to action on Friday 10th September. Since then it has been in action most evenings during the elongated illumination season providing delight not only to enthusiasts but families visiting Blackpool too.
We see the Western Train in this photo just leaving Pleasure Beach loop with an Illumination Tour. Sadly at this point a section of the lights weren’t working. (Photograph by Gareth Prior, 24th September 2021)
