New track starts to be laid in Birmingham City Centre

Over the first couple of weeks of the project to relay tracks in Birmingham City Centre – along with installing the junction between the current city centre line and the forthcoming Birmingham Eastside extension – our updates had shown the removal of track and the old track bed. But now in this latest update we see some positive progress with the first new track down and the track bed further along the line also being put down. Mark Cufflin with the pictures.

Looking away from the stop at Bull Street towards where the junction will be installed we see the first new tracks have been laid along with final surface. Work is still required including the completion of the surface between the two tracks.

On Corporation Street and after the removal of the old rails work is now concentrating on putting the new track bed down in preparation for the installation of new track.
