3128 enters service on Metrolink

The Manchester Metrolink network – now working a reduced timetable because of staff shortages – has now welcomed a further tram into service with 3128 entering service on Monday 9th August 2021.

3128 had been delivered to Manchester on 17th July 2021 and has obviously been through the commissioning and mileage accumulation phase to allow it to be cleared for service. Having entered service on 9th August it has seen a lot of use on the Rochdale line including on 11th , 13th and 14th August working as a pair.

Its also not know whether 3127 has yet to enter service. It would be unusual if 3128 had pushed in to enter service so if anyone has any confirmation one way or the other for 3127 please let us know!

3128 was partnered with 3065 on Friday 13th August and it is seen here sitting at East Didsbury before heading back to Rochdale.

Its not a new tram but it is an advert we haven’t featured on the news pages before so it sits here as well as anywhere else! 3075 in its The Trafford Centre advert as it leaves St Peter’s Square for East Didsbury on 9th July 2021. (Photographs x2 by Lee Standford)

Another look at the recently introduced 3128 which is seen at Rochdale Railway Station when working a service to Monsall as a result of engineering works at Victoria. (Photograph by Paul Gilbert, 14th August 2021)
