Lockdown Walks: Stagecoach Supertram 101

Another outing during Lockdown for this latest edition of “Lockdown Walks” and we are again heading out in Sheffield.

Today we feature the very first of the Siemens-Duewag trams which were built for the opening of the network in Dusseldorf, Germany. 101 was tested on the Dusseldorf system before it was delivered to South Yorkshire and as a result was not the first to arrive at Nunnery Depot. It was predated by six other trams before it turned up at the start of November 1993. Remaining in service since it is now in the current Stagecoach fleet livery.

101 is at Leppings Lane tramstop here as it stops with a Yellow route service from Middlewood to Meadowhall. (Photograph by Stuart Cooke, 22nd January 2021)
