Manchester Metrolink Engineering Works: Saturday 8th to Sunday 16th August

There will be changes to Manchester Metrolink services through Manchester City Centre for a nine day period in August as 1CC will be closed to allow for essential track repair works. No trams will be able to serve either Shudehill or Market Street between Saturday 8th and Sunday 16th August with services altered throughout this period.

Between these dates no trams will run from Victoria onto the original city crossing with any through trams being diverted via 2CC, although some trams will be terminating at Victoria. Service changes are as follows:

* Victoria-Manchester Airport: still running to and from Victoria but diverted via 2CC calling at Exchange Square. It will not serve either Shudehill or Market Street.

* Bury line: All services from Bury will terminate at Victoria for the duration of the works.

Trams from Piccadilly to Piccadilly Gardens and St Peter’s Square will be unaffected as will the services on the East Didsbury and Rochdale lines which will continue to run via 2CC.

The work will be taking place on the corner of High Street and Market Street (outside of Debenhams) with access to businesses maintained throughout.

On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August Bury line services will be further altered with no service between Bury and Whitefield. Trams will only run between Whitefield and Victoria. A replacement bus service will be provided from Bury to Whitefield.

And then on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August the whole Bury line will be closed for engineering works. A replacement bus will run from Bury to Piccadilly instead.
