According to newly released figures the number of reported incidents of anti-social behaviour on Nottingham Express Transit has started to fall following the introduction of a new campaign between the tram operator and Nottinghamshire Police.
Operation Safenet was launched in June 2025 with the aim of making travelling on the tram network even safer. It has seen enhanced support, monitoring and evidence gathering from existing help points and CCTV cameras across the tram system. It will also see officers come up with solutions that will help to keep passengers safe on board the tram and at tramstops.
The new figures have shown that so far in 2025 there have been 21 incidents of anti-social behaviour. In comparison there were 33 incidents in both 2023 and 2024 with 2022 being up at 60 and 2021 had 44.
There have been 27 violence related incidents on the trams so far in 2025. 2024 had 39 incidents, 2023 had 45, 61 in 2022 and 2021 had a figure of 42.
