Metrolink Access Guide published

Transport for Greater Manchester has published an access guide for users of Manchester Metrolink. Although the guide has been created with the needs of disabled passengers in mind it is a handy document for all users of the network as it includes all you need to know about buying tickets, travel passes, using the stops and how to provide customer feedback.

Metrolink Director Peter Cushing commented: “This new publication is a comprehensive guide to using Metrolink, so whether you’re a new or regular user, it is certainly worth a look before you hop on the tram. We want to ensure that Metrolink is accessible to everyone and I am pleased to see the guide covering a whole host of topics which will be of  use to people with a disability. The DDRG is a terrific group which adds real value to our work and this is another example of where their efforts have helped a particular community.”

The guide was drawn up with the help of members of the DDRG (Disability Design Reference Group) who give advice to Metrolink on a host of accessibility issues from the design and layout of the stops and car parks to the seating arrangements on board the new trams. It is hoped that the new guide will make those with disabilities feel more confident before using Metrolink for the first time.

The guide can be downloaded on the Manchester Metrolink website at http://www.metrolink.co.uk/using-the-network/Pages/Accessibility.aspx
