Tram derailed in collision with ambulance

There were major delays for Nottingham Express Transit on Thursday 21st July following a collision between an ambulance and tram on Wilford Road which saw the tram suffer a minor derailment. Four people were treated for minor injuries, including the ambulance crew.

The tram involved in the incident was 213 which as well as being derailed suffered some bodywork damage – it is not yet known whether this is just superficial or whether the Bombardier built tram look set to spend a spell on the sidelines. The collision took place at around 1020 with the tram not being rerailed until 1400 before it could be returned to depot.

Whilst the incident was dealt with shuttle services ran between Ruddington Lane and Wilford Lane and from Ruddington Lane to Clifton South. Services from Phoenix Park were running as normal as far as Wilford Lane. All shuttle trams between Wilford Lane and Ruddington Lane were using the track opposite the collision.
