In Pictures: Just another day at Carlton Colville

We are currently in the main operating season at the East Anglia Transport Museum which means it is open for three days a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. That gives even more opportunities to visit the only place in the UK where you can currently ride on trams, trolleybuses and trains all in one place! In Pictures: Douglas Bay Horse Tramway and its temporary terminus

For the fourth year since it reopened following Promenade reconstruction works, the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway is only operating between Derby Castle and the temporary terminus at Villa Marina with no apparent prospect of it being re-extended towards the Sea Terminal. In this pictorial we head to that temporary terminus to see some images of the trams in service during the recent Manx Heritage Transport Festival. Jim Smythe is the photographer.

Extra trams on Airport line for Live from Wythenshawe Park

NET latest to join Two Lines = Stop campaign

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) have become the latest tramway in the UK to join the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) safety campaign: “Two Lines = Stop”. The campaign is aimed at pedestrians and reminds them of the dangers to be found around trams and how important it is to concentrate when trying to cross the lines.

In Pictures: Wednesday advert on Blackpool 014

Blackpool Tramway Flexity2 014 has received its second full wrap, and like its first one it’s a very black advert with it now carrying vinyls for the Netflix series Wednesday – in a very similar design to that seen on Manchester Metrolink 3117, the first time that Blackpool and Manchester have had the same all over advert at the same time.

Crich seek to offload two tramcars from its collection

Following a review of the tramcar collection within their care, the Crich Tramway Village (home of the National Tramway Museum) have announced they are seeking new homes for two of their trams. Both trams being offered are currently stored at the off-site Clay Cross store and are Halle 902 and Blackpool Railgrinder 2.

Manchester Metrolink 3094’s return to fleet livery wasn’t long as less than a week later it has been noted in service with another advertising wrap. Having last advertised Red Bull it now features adverts for NOBL water, and maybe in a nod to its previous wrap features the words “No Bull”!

In Pictures: Trams at the Greatest Gathering in Derby

The centre piece of the Railway 200 celebrations this year saw a large-scale event take place at Alstom’s Litchurch Lane works in Derby – The Greatest Gathering. Obviously the main focus of the three-day event at the start of August was railways but trams did also feature. One was specifically visiting to be showcased at the event while the other just happened to be on site undergoing repairs.

BCIMO assets acquired by Dudley Council

Black Country Innovative Manufacturing Organisation (BCIMO), the company who operated the Very Light Rail Innovation Centre (VLRIC) in Dudley and went into administration in July 2025, has been sold to Dudley Council. This sale comes after a focused marketing process and sees both the business and assets sold to the Council and secures the future of the VLRIC.

In Pictures: Another tram joins the new advert ranks in Edinburgh

The past few weeks have seen more advert changes on Edinburgh Trams. We have previously reported on how both 256 and 275 received new adverts as 256 got a full wrap for National Museum of Scotland and 275 received a partial advert for Edinburgh Gin. And now 254 has had a change of advertiser with it receiving a colourful wrap for Rabbie’s Tours.
