UKTram go to Rail Live 2025

UKTram’s Lead Engineer, Phill Terry, was amongst 7.000 professionals from across the heavy and light rail industries who recently attended the Rail Live 2025 event at Long Marston. At the event he assessed what emerging developments could benefit the light rail community at this crucial point in its evolution.

The event is mainly concentrated on mainline line, Phill managed to take the opportunity to connect with suppliers and evaluate technologies that could support light rail innovation.

Phill said: “There were a number of suppliers that were open to exploring applications in light rail. In particular, projects in Sheffield and Manchester were mentioned as areas of interest.”

This included Cemit being in discussions with Nottingham Tram for a remote condition monitoring project, which had previously been shared at a Light Rail Engineering Group meeting.

There was also a strong presence from technology providers showcasing solutions such as a welding demonstration from Goldschmidt and Pandrol. These already have applications in light rail and could help to speed up future installation works.

Following the event UKTram have reaffirmed their commitment to identifying and sharing relevant developments from across the wider rail landscape.
