Picture in Time: Manchester Metrolink 1006

We continue our series of “Picture in Time” from Manchester.

1006 curves into the G-MEX stop, with a service for Altrincham. In the background cranes are at work modifying the landscape of Lower Mosley Street – and cranes have become a familiar sight towering over the city ever since as Manchester’s tower blocks rise ever higher.

Having entered service on 6th April 1992, 1006 would we withdrawn from service on 30th August 2012 and would follow in the footsteps of many of its sisters when, on 13th June 2014, it left Trafford Depot for Booths in Rotherham where it was scrapped.
