Alstom and ATM Group (Azienda Trasporti Milanesi) have announced that they are preparing a joint bid for the upcoming operations and maintenance (O&M) contract for Dublin’s Luas tram system. Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) have started a tender process for the contract which has been held by Transdev since the network opened in 2004 and signed their latest contract in 2019 for six years (with an option for a further five).
The ATM-Alstom JV bid will respond to the tender with a proposal built on pillars of operational excellence, customer satisfaction, sustainability, and innovative technology integration. Together the two organisations are aiming to deliver a high-performing future-ready solution of the network.
Piers Wood, Managing Director Ireland at Alstom, said: “We are proud to partner with ATM to offer a compelling proposition for the Luas O&M contract. Our shared commitment to reliability, sustainability and innovation is at the core of this joint venture. We look forward to bringing our knowledge and our proven expertise in light rail systems to support the long-term success of Dublin’s Luas network.”
The entire tram fleet operated on Luas was built by Alstom with various models of their popular Citadis product still used today. They are also currently producing battery electric trains for Dublin’s DART+ network.
