Advert Up Close: Edinburgh Trams 268 – Lost Shore

In this irregular series we take a closer look at some of the detail of an advertising livery with this edition including photos of Edinburgh Trams 268 which is carrying a full wrap for Lost Shore. Roy Calderwood is our photographer.

Although this was the fifth different advert that 268 has carried since receiving its very first in June 2018 for Parabola My Edinburgh Park (one of the few which didn’t start off life with a C R Smith ad), this was in fact its very first full vinyl wrap, with just the ends of the tram not receiving adverts. The vinyls were added in October 2024 and at the time of writing they remain in place.

Lost Shore is described as a luxury surf resort with a wellness studio and offers world-class surf lessons, lodging, and dining. It is Europe’s largest inland surfing destination and is located in Ratho, just 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and a 25 minute drive from the centre of Edinburgh.

As with all adverts on trams in Edinburgh, the majority of windows are kept free of vinyls with, at most, just the third and fifth sections of the tram seeing the windows are covered. That remains the case for both partial and full wrap adverts. This photo shows one end of the tram which includes a simple yellow backed part of the advert which uses the slogan “ESCAPE TO THE CITY’S OTHER SHORE”.

One of the full height adverts with this one featuring an aerial view of the Lost Shore development.

And as we go to the other end of the tram we see the change of the advert with colours changing and a full height section urging us to “Let’s Go” with a surfer in full swing. (All Photographs by Roy Calderwood, 1st February 2025)
