Nexus on the lookout for more apprentices

Nexus are recruiting for eight new apprentices this year and will be holding a recruitment day for those interested this February. There are a variety of different roles available to suit different skills and this is the chance to find out more about what is on offer.

Nexus have a successful track record in recruiting apprentices with nine out of 10 previous apprentices progressing on to full-time employment with them when they complete their training.

This year there are apprenticeships available in project management, signalling, customer service, finance, and engineering.

Stadler – who maintain the Metro fleet – will also be attending the event talking about their own vacancies.

Ally Jennings, HR Manager at Nexus, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming a diverse mix of talented people who are keen to start or continue their careers in public transport, helping us deliver vital services for our customers every day. Apprenticeships are vital for our long-term future and are an ideal route for both us and the apprentices. They provide us with fresh ideas, new thinking and solid succession planning for critical roles, and the apprentices learn bespoke skills and competencies.

“We have gained countless skilled and engaged permanent employees who first joined us as apprentices, and we’re looking forward to the 2025 cohort joining them.”

The recruitment day will take place at the Nexus Learning Centre in South Shields on Wednesday 12th February between 1500 and 1900.

Details of the available apprenticeships and how to apply can also be seen online at https://www.nexus.org.uk/apprentices.
