Edinburgh Trams have extended their commitment towards getting people to rugby matches at The Hive (the smaller stadium next to Murrayfield in the city) as a Community Impact Partner for Edinburgh Rugby throughout the 2025/26 season.
As part of the partnership, Edinburgh Trams will also extend their sponsorship of stand-off, Ross Thompson whilst also promoting sustainable travel to and from games across the season.
Becky Love, Marketing & Communications Manager at Edinburgh Trams, said: “We’re really pleased to continue this Community Impact Partnership into the 2025/2026 season, along with our sponsorship of Ross.
“We’re proud to offer an environmentally friendly, sustainable transport option for rugby fans to get right to the gates of Hive Stadium, and the partnership with Edinburgh Rugby benefits our colleagues and customers alike.
“This year, we’re encouraging more people to Try the tram to Hive Stadium to see the team in action throughout the season, and we’ll be selling tickets in the stadium itself to make it easier than ever to glide home after the game.”
New for the 2025/26 season will be the fact that Edinburgh Trams will have a presence in the Hive Stadium Fan Zone, allowing fans to buy tickets before heading home, making it simpler than ever to “Try the Tram” after the final whistle.
The partnership will also continue to support community initiatives, including Edinburgh Rugby’s “Tickets to Inspire” programme. This is aimed at bringing the excitement of he 1872 Cup (Edinburgh v Glasgow) by offering complimentary tickets to the match to local charities working across sectors such as homelessness, social housing, veteran support, food inequality, and youth work.
Douglas Struth, Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, said: “It’s hugely important for Edinburgh Rugby to continue our relationship with Edinburgh Trams, especially as we share a commitment to promoting sustainability and providing supporters with green transport options to get to Hive Stadium.
“The tram service has been an incredible asset to the club and our fans over the years, making match day access so smooth and easy. It’s fantastic that Edinburgh Trams will be visible in the fan zone this year, making it even simpler for people to ‘Try the Tram’ for their journey home.
“We are also extremely grateful that they continue to back our crucial community initiatives, such as ‘Tickets to Inspire’, which ensures we can share the thrill of our biggest matches with local charities and those who truly deserve it. To have them also continue their sponsorship of local talent in Ross Thompson further demonstrates their commitment to the club at all levels.”
