Another edition of “Around the World in Trams” comes from San Franciso in 2002.
In this image we are looking at PCC 1054 at Castro terminus which was in service on the Market Street Railway on the day of this visit. This was another PCC acquired by Muni for use on this line with it having started out life as Philadelphia Transportation Company 2121 in 1948. Its operated for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) until Muni purchased it in 1992.
Like the other PCCs in the fleet it received a historic livery, this is the 1938 Philadelphia livery. Unfortunately, 1054 suffered accident damage in 2003 and it was eventually scrapped in 2019.
