Blackpool Transport and Nottingham Express Transit are advertising for major roles to help shape the future of their transport networks. For Blackpool it’s the main Managing Director role which is being advertised whilst in Nottingham they are looking for a Track Asset Manager.
Current Blackpool Transport Manager, Jane Cole, is due to retire in early 2026 and Blackpool Council (who own Blackpool Transport as a arms length company) are now looking for a replacement Managing Director with an appointment hoped to be made by the end of January 2026.
With a salary in the range of £100,000-£140,000, they are looking for someone to “provide visionary and strategic leadership across all aspects of the company’s tramway and bus operations. The postholder will ensure that the organisation delivers safe, reliable, efficient, and customer-focused public transport services that support the economic and social vitality of Blackpool and the wider Fylde Coast.”

And as would be expected there is no specific mention of the heritage trams.

Meanwhile, down in Nottingham they are hiring for a Track Asset Manager. This role will lead the way in maintaining and renewing Nottingham’s tram tracks and comes with a salary between £55,000 and £60,000.
The successful candidate will be a technically strong, safety-focused leader who will lead track maintenance and renewal programmes, manage contractors, budgets and compliance, and drive operational excellence and performance.
