Manchester Metrolink Engineering Works: Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October

The next set of major engineering works on Manchester Metrolink, which will see a revised service in operation, will be on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October. This time there will be essential rail replacement work taking place around Conbrook.

As a result of the works the following revised services will run:

Saturday 5th October

  • Bury to Ashton
  • Altrincham to Old Trafford
  • Etihad Campus to Bury (peak)/Victoria (off peak)
  • Rochdale Town Centre to Deansgate Castlefield via Exchange Square
  • East Didsbury to Firswood
  • Manchester Airport to Firswood
  • Trafford Centre to Wharfside

There will be no service on the Eccles line with all other services running every 12 minutes

Sunday 6th October

  • Bury to Ashton
  • Altrincham to Old Trafford
  • Etihad Campus to Victoria
  • Rochdale Town Centre to Deansgate Castlefield via Exchange Square
  • East Didsbury to Firswood
  • Manchester Airport to Firswood
  • Trafford Centre to Wharfside

There will be no service on the Eccles line with all other services running every 15 minutes

There will be replacement bus services as follows on both days

  • Firswood to Victoria
  • Old Trafford to Piccadilly via Wharfside
  • Eccles to Piccadilly via MediaCityUK

Speaking about the works, Ian Davies, TfGM’s Interim Network Director for Metrolink, said: “These works are a vitally important part of maintaining a safe and reliable network for all our customers.

“The work has been scheduled to minimise disruption to passengers and residents as much as possible – including keeping noise levels to a minimum.

“Replacement bus services will operate across the weekend, so people can still get to and from their intended destinations and I’d encourage passengers to plan journeys and leave plenty of time to reach events over the weekend.
