A new month and as always that means we change location for “Around the World in Trams”. And this time we stick in the pin in to the map and find ourselves in Bratislava.
Bratislava is the Slovakian capital and whereas many cities across Europe can trace their tramway history through horse, steam, and electric operation for this city its been electric all the way ever since it opened in 1895. It runs on metre gauge track and currently includes 26 miles of track.
This photo features the ever present Tatra with 7831 leading one its classmates with a route 12 service to Dubravka. 7831 – a T3SUCS – was built in 1987 and would remain in service until 2016 when it was withdrawn.
