In Pictures: KFC complete a hattrick of tram systems

Over the past couple of months we have seen identical adverts for KFC applied to trams on Manchester Metrolink and West Midlands Metro. Whilst those adverts have now gone – 3047 losing its vinyls in Manchester and 58 on the West Midlands Metro – there is a third tramway in the British Isles which does also have an advert for the same company, and that is Dublin’s Luas system.

Whereas those adverts on Manchester Metrolink and the West Midlands Metro the design on Luas is different with it mainly being red and promoting the KFC Lunch Meal Deal rather than asking you to “Believe in Chicken”.

The tram which has received the wrap on Luas is 3004.

  1. This advert on Luas Dublin is almost identical to that applied to a Skoda 15T4 in Prague. Maybe in Europe, the advert is different to the UK?
Rumours abound that another, similar to Manchester and Birmingham, is about to appear in the UK in mid-September.

I guess this is the first time that Luas has had a tram in an advertising livery

Luas No 3009 had an advertising livery for SKY as long ago as 2015. I photographed this tram on 25th March 2015. I think I am correct in thinking a second tram had a SKY livery around the same time.

Following my earlier post I have checked my records and realised that the tram with SKY advertising livery was No 3019 and not 3009 as noted. The other tram carrying the livery for SKY was 5009 which I also photographed on 25th March 2015.
