New Tramway Museum Society President appointed

Jason Hardy has been appointed as the new Tramway Museum Society President and will now take on the role for the next year. Jason takes on the role from outgoing President, Sue Whiteley.

Jason has been a Tramway Museum Society volunteer since 2018. He started as a conductor after being shown an advert in one of the bus preservation magazines before he went on to join the driving school and became a driver. He then became a Duty Inspector and heads up the Care Team carrying out work such as cleaning, painting and gardening at the museum during the winter.

In his professional life Jason is a fire alarm engineer and services fire alarms around South Yorkshire.

Jason said upon his appointment: “I struggled to put into words how much it means to me on Saturday evening. It’s just such a huge honour. I love the museum and spending time there with my tramway family, especially with the Care Team in winter.  As with all the other groups on site, the Care Team is filled with great people and I’m so proud to play a small part in it.

I would like to focus my term on celebrating our volunteers and do whatever I can to promote the work they do.”
