In Pictures: Groundworks continue on Dudley extension

It’s a line we’re promised by those in power that will be opening by the end of this year but as we approach a third of the year having happened there still remains a lot of work to be completed before we can hope to see trams running. Whilst Dudley Town Centre and its surrounds have seen track laid on the streets the earlier sections closer to Wednesbury are still at a much earlier stage as we see in these photos from Chris Allsop-Buckler.

In these photos we are close to Horseley Road Bridge which is in the vicinity of the second new stop on the line, to be known as Horseley Road. With the trackbed being prepared for the laying of tracks pipework is being laid with conditions at the moment being a little soggy as seen by the muddy bed in place.

The actual location here is just to the Wednesbury side of Horseley Road Bridge. As seen pipework is being laid towards the direction of Dudley Port. This was on 12th March 2024.

Just 24 hours later and progress continues with the work here – as well as a bit less mud! (Both Photographs by Chris Allsop-Buckler, with permission)

  1. Michael Morton says:

Are we wishing the year away here?!
We are approaching one quarter of the year, not one third!
