We are back in Blackpool for today’s edition of “15 Years Apart” as we see photos from 2008 and 2023 of Rebuilt Balloon 718.
This was 6th September 2008 and we see 718 just approaching Cabin with a timetabled service to Fleetwood. The tram is in a version of the Metro Coastlines livery and the wet ground and pantograph grease down the side of the tram gives a fair indication of how grotty the weather has been on this day. 718 had been rebuilt in this condition in 2002.
Then on 24th September 2023 and we feature 718 again as it pauses at the Cabin heritage stop when working during an Enhanced Weekend of hop-on, hop-off tours. Its working up to Little Bispham when seen here. Its now in a coat of green and cream (with black window surrounds) and also now has the central entrance porches which should see it able to use the platforms for extra LRT services.
