Today our “A-Z” reaches the letter R and its another letter where we couldn’t think of anything too obvious to be included.
Which has meant that we go with “R is for Royal Yacht Britannia advert”. Throughout 2023 the Edinburgh Trams network has fully embraced vinyl wrap adverts having previously only seen limited advertising on the trams which saw the bulk of the fleet livery remain in place. Possibly one of the most attractive adverts that we have seen in 2023 has been applied to two trams in the fleet – 260 and 274. 260 was the first to get the Royal Yacht Britannia advert in July 2023 and the following month 274 also received an identical advert.
This is the Royal Yacht Britannia advert as seen on 260 with its deep blue and red colour and simple signwriting making a very effective advert. The tram was running to the Airport when seen on Princes Street in this photo. (Photograph by Roy Calderwood, 8th August 2023)
