Four more nominations for Seaton Tramway at Heritage Railway Association Awards

There is more cause for celebration at the Seaton Tramway after they learnt they have been nominated for four more awards – this time it’s the Heritage Railway Association Awards where they are up for success.

Whilst the big headline from the Heritage Railway Association is about the Steam Locomotive Engineering Award (which sees A4 class Pacific 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley up against Double Fairlie 0-4-4-0T James Spooner and 2 foot gauge Bagnall 0-4-0ST Pixie) its in other categories that the Seaton Tramway could well be celebrating on the night.

The accessible upgrade of tram no. 9 is nominated in the Diesel and Electric Locomotion category where it will be going up against the North Norfolk’s restoration of Class 104 DMU driving trailer no. M56182 and the Severn Valley Railway’s events celebrating 50 years of diesel preservation.

In the Railway of the Year category the Seaton Tramway will be up against the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and the Volk’s Electric Railway (with all nominees being narrow gauge).

The Natural Seaton Festival is also nominated in two separate categories. In the Business and Customer Innovation category its up against the Keith and Dufftown Railway’s “Dram Tram” conversion of a redundant DMU carriage and the Kent and East Sussex Railway’s Santa Specials quiet day whilst the other nominee in the Award for Environmental Innovation is the Kent and East Sussex Railway’s Looking Inwards and Outwards environmental initiative.

The Award ceremony is due to take place in Brighton on Saturday 10th February 2024.
