NET services disrupted after lorry hit overhead pole

Nottingham Express Transit’s run of bad luck has continued with a lorry colliding with an overhead pole causing disruption to services on the line through Beeston to Toton Lane.

The incident happened on the morning of Monday 21st August on Middle Street in Beeston (close to the Tesco superstore) and has meant that services between Cator Lane and University of Nottingham were suspended.

With the lorry striking the overhead support pole it has caused some of the overhead to come down meaning that trams couldn’t run through the area. The road was closed to all traffic with diversions being put in place, including for buses.

Ticket acceptance on East Midlands Railway and Orange Line Nottingham City Transport buses was put in place to allow people to continue their journeys. Trams continued to run Old Market Square to University of Nottingham with a shuttle service from Cator Lane to Toton Lane.

This comes at the same time as engineering works around The Forest which means no trams are running between Old Market Square and Wilkinson Street.

If there are no trams running between Wilkinson Street and Old Market Square, how are the trams serving the southern half of the system? Is there still one through route available at the Forest or are some trams stabled in the south, if so, where?
