In Pictures: Edinburgh Trams 262 “Loafs” around the system

The latest new advert on Edinburgh Trams has been added to 262 with furniture retailer Loaf the sponsor of the tram. Coming soon after the colourful and full advert for Breitling this one is a far more low key affair with a white background to the sections above the windows and a return to the standard “Edinburgh” style of full height on two sections and above windows on the rest of the tram.

262 received the advert back in February 2023 but had seemingly been stuck in the depot for much of the time since it got its new look so had not been seen much on the line before mid-March. The advert is very white (merging with the standard fleet livery in many areas) and just features images of some of sofas and chairs that are available at the new Loaf shack which opened in February at Straiton Retail Park.

This advert replaces a design for Hard Rock Café which had been on the tram since July 2022 and is the seventh advert to have now been carried on 262. These are C R Smith (September 2017-January 2019), Macdonald Hotels/Paul Tamburrini (January-August 2019), Spotify (August-December 2019), Clearwater Analytics (September-November 2021), Ocean Winds (November 2021-July 2022), Hard Rock Café (July 2022-February 2023) and now this ad for Loaf.

262 approaches Princes Street on the way to the Airport.

The tram now stands at Princes Street and we take a look at the centre section of the tram and its new advert.

The other centre section full height advert.

With 262 not having the livery detail at the ends as the trams once had, the white advert now applied does make it look fairly plain. Princes Street again. (All Photographs by Roy Calderwood, 14th March 2023)
