Two new directors appointed to UKTram Board of Directors

The UKTram board has been boosted by the election of two new directors during the organisation’s Annual General Meeting at the start of December. Sophie Allison, Interim Managing Director at West Midlands Metro, and Colin Robey, Chair of the UK Centre of Excellence, were elected replacing former UK Tram Chair, George Lowder MBE (Chief Executive of Transport for Edinburgh) and Iain Anderson (Managing Director of Colas Rail).

James Hammett, UKTram Managing Director, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank George for leading our organisation as it secured vital emergency funding for the sector during the Covid-19 pandemic, and long-term government support for UKTram and the LRSSB. I would also like to say thank you to Iain, who has also made a beneficial contribution to the organisation over the past six years. At the same time we welcome Sophie and Colin to the board, which has also seen industry consultant Lindsay Murphy and Joanne Bentley, Head of Customer Experience at Keolis Nottingham, re-elected. The board will continue to focus on the delivery of objectives set out in our latest business plan and promoting the interests and growth of the sector in the longer-term.”

A new Chair will be appointed by the Board at its next meeting on 19th January.
