Tram output announced for Blackpool’s February Vintage Weekend

The first tram event of 2022 is nearly upon us – as is the second major storm of the week! – and Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours have now announced their planned tram output which should see eight different trams in service over the weekend – including the return to service of Centenary 648 for the first time since 2020. With the Vintage Weekend kicking off on the evening of Friday 18th February with a special tour using the Western Train, the two days of the weekend will then see a six tram hop-on, hop-off timetable running alongside further Western Train Evening Tours and also bus tours and depot tours.

The planned tram output – subject to the usual caveats and with the weather forecast looking less than favourable alternative trams are shown for those which would prefer nice weather! – is:

Friday 18th February

The Evening Tour scheduled has been postponed with the tramway completely suspended. It will run at 1740 on Saturday 19th February instead

Saturday 19th February

Daytime Tours (please note alternative trams are running as tram “D” and “E” due to the weather forecast with Brush 621 and Balloon 715 replacing Boat 600 and Bolton 66 respectively):

A – Balloon 717, B – Brush 631, C – Rebuilt Balloon 718, D – Brush 621, E – Balloon 715, F – Centenary 648

Evening Tour – Western Train

Sunday 20th February

Daytime Tours:

A – Rebuilt Balloon 707, B – Brush 631, C – Balloon 700, D – Bolton 66 (Balloon 715), E – Boat 600 (Brush 621), F – Centenary 648

Evening Tour – Western Train

Daytime tours will be running to a timetable and for those not used to this hop-on, hop-off tours in Blackpool this timetable shows which tram will be allocated to which service (just match the letter to the service). The timetable can be viewed online at https://pdfhost.io/v/M4bdBVIKB_event_timetable_feb_21.

Don’t forget as well as these hop-on, hop-off tours there are depot tours at Rigby Road (1100 and 1300 both days), Fleetwood Bus Tours (1030 both days) as well as Evening Tours (1900 Friday and Saturday, 1700 on Sunday – the Sunday tour runs to Starr Gate). We didn’t have a major storm here on the Fylde Coast. I stopped believing what much of the media tells us some time ago. Here it is often windy in winter ( and summer!).

geoffcurrie I think your defininition of major storm differs to everyone else! If Trams are stopped and it literally blows me over its a major storm!
