“Picture in Time” returns to Midland Metro today as we take another look at one of the T69s in service.
T69 03 was originally delivered to Wednesbury Depot on 17th June 1998 and would remain operational until December 2013. It was the third tram to be permanently withdrawn from service and would then remain stored at the depot until 11th March 2016. At that point it was transferred to Long Marston for further storage. It was scrapped in 2018 at Booths in Rotherham having been sold at an e-auction.
In this photo we see 03 arriving at Wednesbury Parkway with a service from Wolverhampton St George’s to Birmingham Snow Hill. The date is 5th June 2008. Just on the far left of the photo you see the track leading to and from the third platform at Wednesbury Parkway.
