Another image from the past on Midland Metro in this edition of “Picture in Time” as we feature the second of the 16 strong class of Italian built T69s.
11th March 2009 for the below photo of 02 as it arrives at Wolverhampton St George’s. This was the last year that 02 would run in passenger service with final withdrawal coming in December 2009 – the second of the class to be taken out of use, following on from 01 three years earlier. 02 had been delivered to the West Midlands in May 1998 and would leave on 7th October 2014. Initially heading to storage at Long Marston it then left there in 2018 for scrapping.
This image shows the tram accessing the road side platform at St George’s. This platform no longer has track alongside and is used by buses and coaches instead.
