Picture in Time: Seaton 7

“Picture In Time” is again looking back at the Seaton Tramway of day’s gone by today.

Today we feature no. 7 – a tram which has been stored out of service at Riverside Depot for a number of years but plans are now afoot for it s to be overhauled and returned to service over the next few years. But at the time of this photo 7 was very much operational as it is seen having just arrived at Colyton. The station site here looks a little different to that we are used to today but in the distance on the left we can still see the old railway platform where another tram – no. 2 – is at the loading stop for a return journey to Seaton.

Back to 7 though and this tram was built in 1958 with its lower deck having the saloons at each end – as we saw with 6’s rebuild last week – and aside from its 1976 regauging from 2 foot to 2 foot 9 inches it has seen very little change over the years.
