Lockdown Walks: Edinburgh Trams 275

We’re off to Edinburgh again for this latest edition of “Lockdown Walks” with a view in the city centre of another one of the CAF built trams in service.

In this photo we are on Princes Street with a tram passing the Royal Scottish Academy which was built between 1822 and 1826 with the portico added in 1831-6 and then the seated figure of Queen Victoria then added in 1844. That’s not the only building of interest we can see as on the left hand side in the distance are (from left to right), the Nelson Monument on Calton Hill, the Balmoral Hotel clock tower and the rocket like Scott Monument.

275 is heading to the Airport in this image having departed from York Place a few minutes earlier. This tram still carries an advert for Scotland Rugby – in a normal year around this time of year the trams would likely to very busy as fans head to Murrayfield Stadium for a Six Nations March but in 2021 the tram just has to contend itself with a few passengers on board.
