Picture in Time: Glasgow 1245 & Oporto Horse Car

Back to the East Anglia Transport Museum for this latest edition of “Picture in Time”, well not strictly but its linked to the story we are telling of the early tram days at the museum.

This truly fascinating image is taken at the Measham Motor Museum in Leicestershire, which was the first home in preservation for Glasgow 1245. The tram spent some time on display outside the museum along with London Trolleybus 1521 and Leicester Corporation AEC Renown 329 where it got to see many different sights passing by – none more unusual than this one! Passing by on its way to Crich is Oporto Horse Car 9, now a firm fixture at Crich but when this image was taken just on its way to its new home. Two trams from two different countries in another country, it doesn’t get more unusual than this!
