London Tramlink works to see August and September closures

The 2020 programme of engineering works on London Tramlink have been announced with closures of sections of line during August and September as part of the renewal of the infrastructure. Most work will affect trams in the vicinity of the town centre but September will also see the closure of the Beckenham Junction line.

The main period of works will be between Monday 17th and Sunday 30th August when no trams will run from Wandle Park to Centrale and Church Street to Wandle Park with the one-way stop at Reeves Corner closed throughout. Although no specific service details have yet been announced presumably trams will run from Wimbledon to Wandle Park only in this period with services from Beckenham Junction and Elmers End running around the central Croydon loop instead of through to Wimbledon. As is often the case with work affecting access to the depot at Therapia Lane, the Elmers End branch will see no trams before 0700 or after 1930 to allow for the stabling of trams.

There will also be a closure of the Elmers End branch on Saturday 22nd, Sunday 23rd August, Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August with no trams running from Sandilands over this weekend. This will also affect trams on the Beckenham Junction line.

Speaking of the Beckenham Junction line, there will no service from Arena to Beckenham Junction on Monday 31st August, Saturday 5th, Sunday 6th, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September.
