Lockdown Walks: Manchester Metrolink 3091+3073

We head back to Manchester for this latest “Lockdown Walk” with another view of trams in action on Metrolink.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic it was pretty rare to see a double unit in service featuring two different advert liveries but throughout the revised service this has become more prevalent. We have previously seen Dippy on Tour (3089) and Clean Air Manchester (3066) running together and in this article we see two of the newer adverts – 3091’s Go North Wales vinyl and 3073’s intu Trafford Centre partnered together. Both of these adverts were first seen in March at the start of this crisis with both debuting around the time of the opening of the line to the intu Trafford Centre, with 3073 being the first public service tram to arrive and depart from the terminus of that line.

In this first image we see 3091 – as is usual with standard fleet livery from the end – leading 3073 into Chorlton. The pair are on the Manchester Airport to Victoria service.

And in this photo we see 3091 and 3073 departing from Chorlton with the contrasting adverts seen here. (Both Photographs by Keith Chadbourne, 2nd June 2020)
