Picture in Time: Midland Metro 03 & 14

Our modern tram edition of “Picture in Time” this week moves to the Midland Metro for the next few weeks. Now, these articles are usually written several weeks and months in advance (none more so than in 2020 when there hasn’t been much else going on!) and these images feature trams in the snow – just as we seem to be approaching the hottest period of the year! I aim to be topical…

In this week’s image we are at Handsworth Booth Street where two of the T69s meet as their respective ways. On the left we see 03 with a service for Wolverhampton St George’s whilst it is joined by 14 heading for Birmingham Snow Hill. The snow seems to be still coming down at this point but the trams don’t seem to be showing any ill effects and the shelters provides some cover for a lone passenger wishing to go to Birmingham.

The snow day on this occasion was 6th February 2012.
