In Pictures: Wet weather trams in action at Beamish

In a lot of our updates from Beamish recently the sun has been shining which has meant the good weather trams (Blackpool 31, Newcastle 114 and Sheffield 264) have been in service. But with the weather having become a tad unsettled in recent days this time around we see some more weather suitable trams running – namely Sunderland 16, Blackpool & Fleetwood 40 and Oporto 196. Trevor Hall paid a visit to capture these images.

Oporto 196 was the sole tram running anti-clockwise on this day and is seen here with a full load of passengers passing the Fairground.

Sunderland 16 also passes the Fairground but this time around it is on the clockwise circuit.

Oporto 196 passes Blackpool & Fleetwood 40 in the town.

When the loan of 40 to Beamish was originally announced its end date was named as the end of August so there won’t be too many opportunities to see this tram in the northeast. Here we see the tram at Foulbridge/Home Farm. Note the continued progress on the bus depot in the background.

Not needed for service – or not chosen because of the weather! – were Blackpool 31 and Sheffield 264 which could be found stabled outside the depot. (All Photographs by Trevor Hall, 14th August 2019)
