Boy taken to hospital after being hit by tram in Manchester

An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries after he was hit by a tram on the Metrolink Manchester Airport. The incident happened at approximately 1540 on Wednesday 7th October at Crossacres tramstop.

Subsequent reports in local media have said that the boy fell between the tram and the platform just before the tram stated to pull away from the stop. An update from Greater Manchester Police the following day said the boy remained in hospital in a stable condition and that he has suffered serious life-changing injuries.

Services were suspended between Roundthorn and Manchester Airport.
