In Pictures: More progress at Crumpsall

The weekend of 3rd and 4th August saw another blockade on Manchester Metrolink’s Bury line with more work taking place at Crumpsall in connection with the additional platform being constructed to allow trams from the Trafford Park line to terminate here once it opens in early 2020

This time around the new crossover and siding into the platform received their overhead wire whilst work was also undertaken on the installation of signals and point machines for the turnback facility. During the line closure trams terminated at Queen’s Road with a replacement bus service then running through to Bury.

This view taken from the Manchester end pedestrian crossing shows the overhead wiring over the crossover road. Also visible are a couple of new point indictors and a set of the blue SPAS (signal passed at stop) indicator beacons.

This was taken from the Manchester end of the newly extended inbound platform and shows the new platform face and siding with the overhead line above the siding clearly visible. (Both Photographs by Steve Hyde, 5th August 2019)
